FAQ
Why should I choose Ommia for my skincare?
Because you love and respect your skin enough to offer it only the highest quality care – pure, natural products free from parabens, synthetic chemicals, artificial colorants, essential oils, and alcohol. At Ommia, we made a promise: no toxic or potentially allergenic ingredient will ever touch your sensitive skin – or your baby’s delicate skin. Our ingredient lists are clean, and our formulas are intentionally simple yet deeply effective. Hundreds of returning customers choose Ommia month after month, delighted by the visible, tangible results. We never compromise on quality, responsibility, or consistency. And ultimately – because after just a few uses, your skin will ask for Ommia body butter all on its own.
What makes Ommia products different from other cosmetics on the market?
Ommia body butters are crafted with care and responsibility by a small family-run business in Romania. We source our ingredients from local farmers and trusted international suppliers, carefully selected for the purity and organic quality of their products. Our commitment is simple: to use only clean ingredients and gentle yet effective active compounds, while remaining vigilant about avoiding harmful substances, dangerous additives, and any ingredient with allergenic or carcinogenic potential. Our formulas are aligned with the latest scientific research, and we continuously stay informed to ensure our products remain free from parabens, additives, synthetic fragrances, toxic compounds, and alcohol. As an ethical and eco-conscious company, we package exclusively in glass jars and have chosen to eliminate traditional outer boxes – which often end up in the trash anyway. Additionally, we are among the few local producers to offer a handcrafted body butter created especially for mothers and babies. Our “Mother & Child” body butter is so gentle it can be used on newborns’ delicate skin from day one.
Can I use my Ommia body butter as a base to create a new skincare product by mixing it with other essential oils at home?
It depends on what you intend to mix it with. You can safely combine a small amount of Ommia body butter with fine salt or sugar to create a natural, effective scrub. Or, for a spa-like bath, melt a spoonful of the butter into your tub along with some natural bath salts and a few drops of essential oil. However, we do not recommend mixing our body butters with additional essential oils at home. Skincare formulations rely on precise chemical balances — essential oil concentrations must stay within safe limits, and some oils should never be combined. For your safety and skin’s well-being, it’s best to enjoy our body butters as they are, carefully crafted and balanced.
Can I use my Ommia body butter instead of sunscreen?
No. While our body butters have a naturally occurring SPF factor from their ingredients, it is not sufficient for proper and safe protection against the harmful effects of UV rays. A high SPF factor is crucial for skin safety, so we recommend you never go to the beach without a quality sunscreen. You can use your favorite Ommia body butter in conjunction with a sunscreen product for a beautiful, healthy, and even tan, but never skip the sunscreen.
Can I use my Ommia body butter after sun exposure?
Ommia's "Mother & Child" body butter can be used for hydration before the beach, after sun exposure, or even while you're on the beach – your skin will thank you for the natural dose of hydration and nourishment. As for the rest of Ommia's body butters, we mainly use FCF essential oils in their composition, which means that the compounds responsible for skin sensitivity to sun exposure have been removed from the chemical makeup of the oils – making them suitable for use while you're at the beach. On the other hand, not all organic or wildcrafted essential oils are FCF, so we advise you to carefully check the label of the body butter you choose to ensure it's suitable for sun exposure.
How long will a 120ml jar of Ommia body butter last?
We recommend using Ommia body butters at least 2-3 times a week or whenever you feel the need. Apply a small amount (about the size of a bean) of body butter to the desired area. Gently massage in circular motions until the butter is absorbed by the skin. If needed, or if you have very dry and cracked skin, add more butter until your skin feels hydrated and nourished. If you follow this skincare routine, a 120ml jar of Ommia body butter will last about a month.
Why don’t some Ommia body butters have a strong scent?
At Ommia, we don’t use artificial fragrances or scents in our products, which is why they never have a strong, overpowering, synthetic smell like many cosmetics on the market. Our body butters have a subtle, delicate fragrance, created solely by the essential oils used. For example, the "Mother & Child" body butter, designed for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and babies, has a soft, natural coconut scent. This is because it’s meant to be used by sensitive individuals during a delicate and vulnerable stage of their lives, where strong scents could be irritating or disruptive.
I care deeply about sustainability – are your packaging materials recyclable? Do you offer earth-friendly products?
One of Ommia's core principles is our commitment to the environment, which generously provides us with the high-quality natural ingredients in our products. We’ve decided to support the environment as much as possible while keeping Ommia products affordable, even though this means higher production costs and, consequently, lower profits for us. That’s why we only use glass containers and have chosen to forgo traditional product boxes (which people typically discard immediately after receiving their products). When you purchase an Ommia product, you’ll notice that the packaging contains no plastic at all – your jars will be wrapped in wood wool, brochures are printed on simple paper without plastic inserts, and delivery is done in plain cardboard boxes sealed with paper tape. For a small producer, these actions require more work, resources, and finances, but at Ommia, we believe every small gesture counts when it comes to protecting the Planet.
Where and how are Ommia products made?
Ommia products are made in Romania, and the brand is owned by a family who designed it from scratch – it is, therefore, a local business by a small, responsible producer. The body butters are produced on a small scale, in limited batches, under the highest standards of hygiene and safety. Our team ensures that all the products pass the necessary physico-chemical tests required by Romanian authorities. Of course, any MSDS certifications from our producers and suppliers or laboratory test results of our products are available to our customers upon request.
Where do the ingredients in Ommia body butters come from?
Choosing the base ingredients is one of the most careful and important tasks for the Ommia team because our products are only as high-quality as the pure and precious elements that make them. We want to support local businesses and Romanian entrepreneurs, so we always aim to first source local options and plants that genuinely grow within Romania’s borders, in order to bring you oils from sources as close to home as possible. Of course, for ingredients that don’t grow here due to the temperate-continental climate, we select suppliers who demonstrate responsibility, ethics, and commitment. We always seek partners who value quality and safety, organic productions or wildcrafting, environmental protection, sustainability, gentleness towards animals, professional ethics, and their involvement in supporting their local community.
Are Ommia body butters tested on animals?
No, never. This is one of Ommia's promises that we will always uphold: our products will never be tested on animals and will always be cruelty-free.
Are Ommia ingredients certified organic?
A large part of Ommia's ingredients are certified organic, while others are natural or come from wildcrafted sources. Upon customer request, we can, of course, provide the MSDS certifications from our producers and suppliers.
What exactly does “artisanal body butter” mean?
We are happy to clarify this concept, which is often misunderstood by the consumer public. An artisanal product is not mass-produced; it is often made by hand in small batches, requiring careful and meticulous work. The creation of artisanal products involves thorough research, time, and focuses primarily on quality, attention to detail, and the wise selection of highly responsible suppliers. Technology and mechanization in the production process of these products are kept to a minimum or not used at all to emphasize values such as experience, tradition, creativity, and quality. For cosmetic products, artisanal production means making them in small batches (maybe just a few dozen per batch), with care and dedication, and using the cleanest ingredients without additives, artificial compounds, or toxins. When we conceptualized the Ommia brand, we put a great emphasis on quality and responsibility, as well as sustainable and safe production for consumers — this is why we use technology wisely, only where it helps reduce physical labor but never at the expense of our natural and pure products.
Do Ommia body butters contain 100% natural ingredients?
Yes. We are proud that, for your Ommia body butter, we have selected only the purest organic ingredients or those from wild harvests, without parabens, chemicals, or artificial colorants. Ommia body butters are often hypoallergenic and non-irritating, with a short and clean ingredient list so that you can care for your skin simply, naturally, efficiently, and safely. Our oils are cold-pressed using exclusively mechanical methods, and some of the essential oils we use are therapeutic grade. Our mission is responsible, attentive, and natural skin care. At Ommia, we aim to always use the purest ingredients, effective but gentle active ingredients, and remain vigilant to ensure that our products are always free from harmful compounds, dangerous additives, and potential carcinogenic or allergenic ingredients.
